The municipality of Oropesa is in luck. And it is that Ariadna Sitjà from Oropes, director of the Torre la Sal Institute of Aquaculture, has been awarded the Concepción Aleixandre Award for Scientific Donation in the Valencian Community category in the fourth edition of this event. An award that was given to her last Friday in a day in which she was accompanied by the Councilor for Equality, Micaela Bermúdez. This is a contest, organized by the Picanya City Council, which aims to reward the contribution of Valencian women in the development of science and, in turn, serve as motivation for the study and research of science. From the Oropesa del Mar City Council they take the opportunity to congratulate the Oropesa for this important award. In this sense, Bermúdez has stated that “it has been a great pride to accompany on this day a woman with the scientific professional career of Ariadna. Both the consistory and the Castellón Provincial Council endorsed his project and we were convinced of its merit to opt for the award-winning”. It should be noted that Sitjà's scientific activity focuses on the study of parasites that affect fish in marine cultures in order to control or mitigate the impact of parasites in aquaculture. His research, which has a multidisciplinary and international component with multiple collaborations in national and European projects, is aimed at understanding both the parasite and the host and their interaction to articulate methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
