Oropesa del Mar successfully hosts another edition of the Senior Hockey Tournament

80 players from eight teams from Spain participated in the sports competition 

Last weekend the municipality of Oropesa del Mar celebrated another year  the Senior Hockey Tournament organized by Hockey Club Playas Oropesa at the Carlos Taulé Pavilion, where 80 amateur players from eight different teams participated. The competition featured 24 exciting matches, where the public was able to learn more about the world of hockey. 

The mayor, Araceli de Moya, explained the importance of this type of initiatives: “Competitions like this one help to position our municipality as a tourist reference. The City Council will continue to support and help local clubs and entities to offer a wide range of sports.”

Among the eight participating teams, players came from all corners of the country. From Madrid to Bilbao, Aranda del Duero to Valladolid; and of course, from the Valencian Community. Despite the competitive level of the matches, only two could reach the final after the 23 matches played during the tournament.

The Spilik team, made up of players from the local team Orcas, and the Sin Nombre team were the ones who managed to reach the long-awaited final. After a hard-fought match, the victory finally went to the Sin Nombre team. Councillor Sonia Bellés has ensured the success of this tournament: “The teams and fans have enjoyed the tournament and our town during a weekend full of sporting events.”

Sporting events once again fill the beaches of Oropesa del Mar with energy and competitiveness, along with the promotion of sport aimed at both residents and visitors.
