Oropesa del Mar celebrated this Tuesday its traditional 'Poetic Tour' through the streets of the municipality. A cultural proposal in which different corners of the old part of the town are visited accompanied by poetry and that yesterday had a tribute to the figure of Quevedo, to which a commemorative plaque was placed on San José street.
This emblematic street was reformed nearly 20 years ago and is next to the last antique dealer in the municipality, which recalls Oropesa's roots as the City of Antique Dealers. "We want to remember one of the classic authors of Spanish literature and we do it in one of the most significant streets, next to one of those places that reminds us of the history of our municipality," said the mayoress of Oropesa, Araceli De Moya. .
The tour lasted one hour and began, as usual, in the Plaza de la Iglesia, where three poems dedicated to the municipality were read. The first was recited by Araceli De Moya; followed by the Councilor for Culture, Juan García; and Luisana Segarra, a neighbor of the municipality and organizer of these poetic routes.
Another of the surprises that the night had was the accompaniment on the route of the first mayor of Oropesa's democracy, Francisco Garrido, who was in charge of entertaining and telling stories about the square and the buildings that surround it.
The poetic tour continued under the bell tower, the castle gate, the Pou del Ravalet, then next to the wall and finally in the street where the plaque in homage to Quevedo was inaugurated.
The event ended by recalling that next Tuesday will be the last poetic tour of this edition and thanking the attendees. These nights out have been held for many years and are usually an intimate gathering that brings together between 30 and 40 people. The vast majority of them are regulars and repeat year after year touring the streets of the municipality to the beat of the best verses.
