Citizens have gathered this afternoon at the doors of the City Hall, where the reading of the manifesto and a micro open to local entities have taken place

The municipality of Oropesa del Mar has joined this Friday in the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A day that has served to raise our voices against this scourge and that has dyed the center of the coastal town purple on the occasion of the fourth edition of the Night March against Gender Violence, an event that has brought together a multitude of oropesinas and oropesinos who have united in their fight against the same cause.

In this way, the citizens have gathered at 6:00 p.m. at the doors of the City Hall to participate in a massive day that began with the reading of the manifesto by the Councilor for Equality, Micaela Bermúdez, who was accompanied by the mayoress , Araceli de Moya; the vice mayor, María Jiménez; as well as several members of the municipal corporation.

After this act, the municipality has given way to an open micro that has been joined by students from the Torre del Rei institute, representatives of the feminist reading club, users of Casal Jove, as well as the oropesinas Paquita León, from the Integral Center for Mayores, and Elia Gauchía, with the reading of a poem.

The day has continued with the already traditional march that has passed through the streets of the center of the municipality and that has consisted of a route of 2.5 kilometers. However, Bermúdez wanted to thank all the people who have joined the march and, especially, those who have participated in the open microphone”.

Next activities

The next activities of the Week against Gender Violence will arrive tomorrow at the Plaza Mayor, starting at 10.30 am, with one of the novelties of this year's program. And it is that the smallest and youngest, together with their families, will be able to immerse themselves in a gymkhana that will have various activities for children and young people, as well as approach the Point of Love. A family day in which, through games , values will be projected, such as good treatment and equality.

It should be remembered that the intensive self-defense course began yesterday, which will run until December 30 and takes place at the Aficrom association headquarters, in the morning, and at the Carlos Taulé sports center, for the afternoon group. However, Bermúdez wanted to highlight that all these activities "are complemented by affective-sexual education workshops and the prevention of gender violence that take place in schools and institutes, as well as prevention campaigns organized on the occasion of the patron saint festivities of the municipality”.
