The generic function of an archive, therefore, is to gather, preserve, organize, serve and disseminate documents.
The Municipal Archive
It is made up of several documentary collections
Open to possible donations, loans or transfers. The main collection is the one produced by the Oropesa del Mar City Council in the exercise of its functions and which ranges from 1818 to the present.
We also have the fund of the Local Agrarian Chamber. The documentation became the property of the municipal corporation through Decree 161/1994 of July 29. The documentation begins in 1891 and reaches 1996.
The documentation transferred by the Justice of the Peace that reaches from 1864 to 2009. In addition, we have the documentation of the Tourist Initiatives Center that begins in 1964 reaching 1999. That of the Dean Martí College that goes from 1944 to 1988.
Since 2011, the Municipal Archive has dedicated part of its budget to the digitization of historical documentation, prior to 1940, according to the guidelines of the Generalitat Valenciana. With this, in 2019, all the documentation that the Municipal Archive has considered historical was finished, adding more than 150,000 images that tell our history and the future of our municipality.
