In the 17th century, Oropesa was fortified with a new wall with a regular layout and bastions at the corners. At the SE end, a regular-plan building was built, two storeys and a door on C/San Antonio. Its interior was divided into two elongated and connected rooms. The ground floor had a flat roof and was used as a prison. The front room was reserved for the jailer and torture equipment, while the dark room at the back served as a cell. Access to the upper floor was external and allowed soldiers with light equipment to position themselves in the loopholes to defend the wall.
