The Oropesa del Mar Lighthouse
It was inaugurated in 1857, using olive oil, paraffin and later petroleum as fuel. It consists of a main building with a housing and warehouse function. And another where a 12.50 m high tower is located, which places the lamp at 22.68 m above sea level.
Two lighthouse keepers, with their families, were in charge of maintaining the facilities and taking care of the lighting. Among his tasks was also the meteorological record and the sighting of ships, especially warships. They also collaborated in the pursuit of smuggling in this area.
This lighthouse was inhabited until 2013, although during the Civil War it was looted and made useless.
