Chess will be the protagonist this weekend in Oropesa del Mar

The municipality will host next Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2, the II IRT Sub 1800 Chess Oropesa del Mar

The municipality of Oropesa del Mar will host the 'II IRT Sub 1800 Chess Oropesa del Mar' tournament this weekend at the Koral Beach Hotel. This official competition will bring together more than 60 participants to compete over six rounds through the traditional Swiss system. The sports councilor, Sonia Bellés, has taken the opportunity to highlight the work carried out by the clubs in the location: We count with a great tissue sports engaged and dedicated to creating and promoting sport in our municipality.”

The competition will take place during the next Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 2pm Y of 4pm to 8pm Y Sunday 2 of July of 10am to 2 p.m. In addition, this second edition will have the participation of Ivan Salgado, champion of Spain on several occasions in school categories, considered one of the best coaches in the world in Spanish. The mayor of the municipality, Araceli de Moya, has valued this type of sports initiatives: “We are a municipality that has all the necessary resources to promote and host high-level sports competitions. I take this opportunity to invite the public who love this sport to come and follow the games on straight".

This event will end on Sunday with its corresponding awards ceremony. As it is an official competition, participants will be able to obtain 'elo fide' scores, which will allow them to move up or down in category.

These are the hours of the competition:

  • Round 1: Saturday at 10:00 hours
  • Round 2: Saturday at 12:00 hours
  • Round 3: Saturday at 4:00 p.m. hours
  • Round 4: Saturday at 6:00 p.m. hours
  • Round 5: Sunday at 10:00 hours
  • Round 6: Sunday at 12:00 hours
  • Awards ceremony: Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
