The cooperation between both entities has allowed the implementation of initiatives to promote and raise awareness of equality and the environment.

The Oropesa del Mar Town Council is cooperating with the Red Cross to launch initiatives that give visibility to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Human Rights promoted by the United Nations. The Councillor for Social Services, Equality and Immigration, Micaela Soledad, has explained the importance of the collaboration between these entities: “The cooperation between the Town Council and the associative network of our municipality is key to offering citizens a wide variety of projects in which to develop themselves”. The SDGs establish a roadmap made up of 17 objectives to achieve by 2030 sustainable economic, social and environmental development in an integrated, balanced, indivisible, global scope and universally applicable way. Along these same lines, the council has carried out initiatives together with the Red Cross aimed at promoting and raising awareness on matters of equality and the environment. Among the different projects, those aimed at young people stand out, such as awareness-raising activities during 8M, the promotion of the free psychological support telephone line, informative workshops on skin and eye care during the summer or environmental awareness campaigns. In addition to these activities, there are others aimed at all citizens, such as an exhibition on women around the world, puppet workshops, waste collection on the beach or responsible consumption activities for children and families.
