The Oropesa del Mar City Council, through the Department of Education, has launched an informative program of affective-sexual education aimed at fathers, mothers and students in 5th and 6th grade.  primary school of CEIP La Mediterrànea and CEIP Dean Marti.

This educational initiative seeks to promote good treatment and prevention through two training sessions per classroom, plus a prior meeting with parents with the aim of resolving any doubts that may exist on the subject. The mayor of the town, Araceli De Moya, has highlighted the importance of carrying out this type of project. “At the City Council we support all initiatives that educate in respect and tolerance in society. Addressing issues until a few years ago treated as taboo helps improve relationships of trust between parents and children and between young people among themselves. It is vital to promote peaceful coexistence and tolerance from public institutions in a diverse and plural society such as Oropesa del Mar.”

CEIP La Mediterrànea will begin with these sessions on December 5 and 12, followed by CEIP Dean Martín on December 15 and 19. In them, the program will address three main aspects of affective-sexual education such as: the normalization and promotion of attitudes of Respect and Tolerance towards human sexual diversity, protection against situations of abuse or personal violation and the questioning of pornography. as a source of information or model of sexual behavior.

The Councilor for Education, Andrea Illescu, has also highlighted this municipal proposal. “Due to the great importance that affective sexual education represents in the training of children and adolescents, this pedagogical activity has been designed so that children are trained to make correct decisions about their sexuality. Likewise, it will help them develop self-confidence since doubts regarding their bodies will be resolved and the bond with the family will also be strengthened as there is more communication about it.", assured Illescu.
