The Oropesa del Mar library in this past year 2022 has consolidated its number of users and "has been able to attract the attention of many more" as commented by the mayor of culture Gonçal Tamborero. "There has been a great dynamization internally in the library, thanks to the work and effort of all the staff who work there," he adds. Users during the past year increased by more than 50% compared to the previous year the number of people who visited the library to consult and read. "We have gone from 11,800 in 2021 and to 25,000 this past 2022." In 2018, the number was 48,677, while in 2019 the figure increased to 63,234. An increase of about 15,000 people, of which it is estimated that about 3,000 are boys and girls. Regarding loans, the increase reaches more than 2,000 more users compared to the previous year, which were 14,689. One of the aspects to be highlighted is the number of loans from publications in Valencian, which has doubled, as well as those of foreign languages, a section in which the offer of titles has increased significantly. “We are returning to pre-Covid figures,” he comments. Finally, the Councilor for Culture, Gonçal Tamborero, has valued "in a very positive way" the activities that are carried out "outside the library" that help to give visibility such as the cinema forum.
