The competition took place this weekend with a large attendance of local and national public.
Water sports were once again the main attraction in Oropesa del Mar over the weekend, thanks to the XXII “Regatta of San Jaime” which brought together many boats seeking to win the Villa de Oropesa Trophy and the Autonomous Cruise Cup.
This regatta, without a doubt one of the unmissable events for all sailing lovers in the province of Castellón, took place on July 22 and 23 on the Oropesa coast, as the route of the participating boats left from the Nautical Port, the emblematic point of the sporting event, towards the north of the coast of the Castellón town and back to the starting point.
After some intense days of competition, the boats that occupied the podium were: firstly, the one captained by Joaquín Ibáñez, from RCN Castellón; in second place, the one captained by F. Javier Maestre, from RCN Castellón, and in third place, the one captained by Miguel Sánchez, from RCN Castellón.
Araceli de Moya, Mayor of Oropesa del Mar, has pointed out that “the success achieved by this regatta year after year has made it an emblematic event for Oropesa del Mar. From the City Council we will continue working to position ourselves as a benchmark municipality for nautical and beach sports”
Sonia Bellés, Oropesa del Mar's sports councillor, highlights that "the excitement and passion shared in this XXII San Jaime Regatta helps us to understand the importance of hosting this type of competition and encourages us to commit to hosting these experiences in our town"
