The Oropesa del Mar City Council, through the Department of the Environment, has prepared a wide variety of activities aimed at the town's educational centres on the occasion of the European Mobility Week from 19 to 21 September. The aim of this initiative is to promote sustainable, safe and healthy mobility habits that allow for the construction of a municipality  greener, safer and less polluted.

Under the slogan 'Energy Saving' the council aims to provide and encourage the use of sustainable options for getting around. Among the different actions planned are: bicycle workshops, dynamic games, teamwork or group cohesion activities. The mayor of the municipality, Araceli De Moya, has encouraged students to participate in all the planned days. "During this week, the students of Oropesa del Mar will have the opportunity to learn about the sustainable mobility possibilities that they can choose from, as well as learn about the importance of committing to the environment," said the councillor.

The Councillor for the Environment, David Juárez, has stated that “it is important to raise awareness among young people about environmental protection and the benefits that sustainable mobility habits have for health and the ecosystem. Young people are the present and the future, and therefore they must learn behaviours that protect our planet.”

Some educational institutions will participate in this project, such as: CEIP Mediterranea, CEIP Dean Martí and IES Torre del Rei. The first day started today with the students of CEIP Mediterranea, who were able to enjoy and learn about the advantages of investing in sustainable mobility in their daily lives. Tomorrow it will be the turn of the students of CEIP Dean Martí and on Thursday  from the IES Torre del Rei.
