Oropesa del Mar celebrated its traditional Paella Day today as part of its patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of Patience. The day started early in the morning to begin a day full of activities where more than 5,000 people participated.

The different groups and residents of the municipality have enjoyed the morning preparing their own paellas. The council has been in charge of carrying out a monumental paella for 1,200 people. In addition, 'fester kits' have also been distributed to attendees and wines from the Clos d'esgarracordes winery, owned by a local businessman, to enjoy with food.  The mayor, Araceli De Moya, has valued this meeting. “I am very happy to experience our traditional Paella Day surrounded by neighbors and visitors to the town, that is the essence of our festivities,” explained the mayor.

The festive atmosphere has continued throughout the day in the streets of Oropesa del Mar with music as the protagonist. From the first hour, the brass bands have paraded and animated the population, in the afternoon it was the turn of the La Wilton orchestra and the local DJ Abel Espina Julve. The town has also had other recreational activities such as a gymkhana aimed at the members of the different Collas or the performance of the Saw Showman.

Finally, the municipality will put an end to this long-awaited day with its traditional sobaquillo dinner, where the population will take to the streets of the town to continue enjoying its festivities.
