The Department of Equality has scheduled a full agenda of events to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
The municipality of Oropesa del Mar already has everything ready to dye the coastal town purple. And it is that the Department of Equality has prepared, from November 22 to 26, an extensive program of events to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This was announced by the councilor for the area, Micaela Bermúdez, who has encouraged "all citizens to participate, since we have made a program for all tastes and ages, as well as for the family audience."
The first of the activities will come tomorrow with a cineforum session in which the film 'La habitación' will be screened, at 6:00 p.m. in the plenary hall of the Town Hall. It is a "very hard film with which we want to make sexual violence visible, shake consciences among the population and carry out an analysis," says Bermúdez.
Likewise, from November 24 to December 30, there will be an intensive self-defense course that will take place at the Aficrom association headquarters, in the morning, and at the Carlos Taulé sports center, for the afternoon group. All those interested can register, from the age of 12, through the email 'igualdad@oropesadelmar.es'.
It will be on Friday, November 25, when the central day of the programming takes place, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Thus, the oropesinos and oropesinas will meet at the gates of the consistory to participate in the fourth edition of the Night March against Gender Violence, with a 2.5-kilometer route through the center of the municipality that will be preceded by the reading of the manifesto and a micro open to the public. An act in which representatives of the institute will participate, as well as oropesinas and oropesinos from some associations.
In this sense, Bermúdez hopes that the already traditional march that Oropesa del Mar celebrates every year around these dates and with which every corner of the municipality is dyed purple will be as “multitudinous”. And it is that "the town of Oropesa del Mar is a municipality that rejects gender violence, so we have to go out to the streets to raise our voices against this scourge."
The next day, the Plaza Mayor will host, starting at 10:30 am, one of the novelties on this year's programme. And it is that the smallest and youngest, together with their families, will be able to join a gymkhana, which will have various activities for children and young people, as well as approach the Point of Love. A family day in which, through game, values will be projected, such as good treatment and equality. It should be noted that all these activities are complemented by affective-sexual education and gender violence prevention workshops that take place in schools and the institute, as well as prevention campaigns organized on the occasion of the municipality's patron saint festivities.
