The municipality will have a wide variety of cultural activities from April 21 to May 31
The Oropesa del Mar City Council, through the Department of Culture, has prepared a special program to celebrate Book Day. From Sunday, April 21 to May 31, the town will have a wide range of activities aimed at promoting and bringing literature to visitors and locals.
Next Sunday, April 21, the municipality will inaugurate the literary program with the traditional book fair in the Plaza Mayor, where we can find workshops, buy books and enjoy presentations and book signings. by authors such as Manuel Parra, Raúl Ariza, Sergi Cambrils, Moises Agustin Torres, and Ernesto Salcedo. At 11:00 a.m. the workshop 'The art of writing' will take place. Essential tools for telling stories' taught by Sergi Cambrils, illustrator and writer. Next, at 12:30 p.m. the town's Plaza Mayor will host the presentation of the book of stories 'Elephantastic Triology' by the writer Raúl Ariza, who will talk with Sergi Cambrils about Spanish short literature. Another surprise of the day will take place at 5:30 p.m. with the workshop and talk by the writer Moisés Agustin Torres, author of the work 'The Tales of Azanubia'. At 6:30 p.m. Ernesto Salcedo, author of titles such as “El Reino de Darf”, will close the day with a talk and book signing.
The Mayor of the town, Araceli De Moya, has valued the municipal programming. “At the City Council we have prepared an extensive and varied program to promote and bring literature closer to the Oropesino population”, the councilor has assured. “The habit of reading is the best activity to enjoy, in a lifetime, many adventures in the skin of the characters in the books. For children, it is the basis for their future academic and cultural training, and for developing their imagination and creativity. “A people that reads is a cultured people.”, De Moya added.
For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Juan García, has declared: "I hope that the programming that we have prepared with audiences of all ages in mind is liked by all attendees, a programming designed to be enjoyed as a family."
The rest of the activities planned until May 31 in the town will take place on the third floor of the Municipal Library. The first appointment will be on Tuesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. with the activity 'Poetic readings and wine tasting'. The next cultural event will be 'Storytelling for adults', on Friday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. Another of the proposals included in this cultural agenda is the special day scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, where the conference 'The name of Oropesa and other neighboring towns' will take place at 6:00 p.m. followed by the presentation of the book 'Els names of the Valencian towns. On Friday, May 31, this cultural initiative will put an end to a special program of more than a month with the activity 'Hora del conte: En Bum i el tresor del pirate' at 6 p.m.
