Blue flag is an annual award and environmental quality certification system developed by the FEE since 1987. It promotes and rewards participation in voluntary environmental initiatives of municipal authorities, local and visiting populations, and tourism sector agents. The criteria to obtain the Blue flag They are grouped into four areas: Quality of bathing waters, environmental information and education, environmental management and safety, services and facilities.
In this case, the coastline of the town of Oropesa del Mar will once again display four Blue Flags this year on the beaches of Les Amplaries, Morro de Gos, La Concha and Les Platgetes de Bellver. With these four awards, the City Council achieves its main objective: to reinforce the environmental policy on the town's beaches. The presence of the Blue Flags confirms the importance of this project for the council, whose objective is to achieve sustainable development of the municipality and environmental management of the entire municipal coastline.
These beaches, together with those of Renegà and the coves of Orpesa La Vella and del Retor, are a unique offer to enjoy sun, excellent waters and free activities promoted by the Department of Tourism.
With its seven beaches recognized with the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate, the Q for Qualitur and with the Q for Quality on Concha Beach, the Blue Flag award rewards the work and efforts invested in turning the town into a benchmark for quality tourism among the priority objectives. The implementation of the Comprehensive Tourism Quality System in Destinations (SICTED) attests to this, which has also distinguished Playa de la Concha, Playa Morro de Gos, Les Amplaries and Platgetes de Bellver in 2023.
