The initiative, from the Fons Valencià per la Solidaritat, aims to bring the Sustainable Development Goals closer through activities such as exhibitions or storytelling

The municipality of Oropesa del Mar adheres, through different activities, to the 'In/Sustainable' project of the Fons Valencià per la Solidaritat, an initiative co-financed by the Castelló Provincial Council whose objective is to publicize the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS) and sensitize the population about the importance of citizen participation to achieve them. Specifically, the project affects SDG number 12, on sustainable production and consumption.

This was explained by the Councilor for Social Services, Micaela Bermúdez, who has announced that until November 14 the Torre del Rei institute in the town will host the exhibition entitled 'In/Sustainable. A path towards sustainability'. It is a sample – free of charge – that was inaugurated last Friday and "with which we intend to strengthen awareness around responsible consumption habits through concrete actions by the population," emphasizes Bermúdez.

In this sense, the students from Torre del Rei, together with students from the local Adult Training Center, will work in the classroom around the theme already mentioned in the session 'I am aware of what I consume', in the that the participants will be able to reflect on the situation of the planet and analyze the alternatives to carry out a more sustainable production and consumption.

The program of this project has been completed with the celebration of the playful activity aimed at children 'Let's go find a treasure', which was attended by five-year-old infant boys from the Deán Martí and La Mediterrània schools. Through a dramatized storyteller, this initiative "emphasizes the need and urgency of changing habits and the way of consumption to take care of our planet", the mayor emphasizes.

It should be remembered that the Fons Valencià is the association of local entities of the Valencian Community whose objectives are to carry out and finance international cooperation and development education projects. Currently, the Fons has 136 local Valencian member entities (127 city councils and 9 associations) and concentrates its decentralized cooperation actions in Ecuador, Bolivia and El Salvador, as well as in countries in emergency situations. Likewise, it carries out projects to raise awareness of equitable, just and sustainable human development among the population of the local entities that are members of the Fons, and the Valencian citizenry in general.
